Vulci is an ancient Etruscan city that is located in the territory of Montalto di Castro, in the heart of Maremma Laziale.
Anciently it was one of the greatest city states of the Etruria.
What to see in Vulci: the necropolis that still has thousands of graves, with a form and typology which is typically Etruscan (pits, barrows, chest tombs, Funerary chambers and corridor graves).
Among the most evocative monuments, you will be able to admire the "del Diavolo" bridge, 30 m high, that dates back to the III century B.C. and the Castello Medievale della Badia (Medieval Castle of the Abbey ) from the XIII century.

Tarquinia and Tuscania

Tarquinia is about 20 km away from Montalto di Castro.
It was one of the most ancient and important settlements of the Etruscan civilization.
What to see: the ancient necropolis where many barrow graves with rooms carved into the cliff are kept. In the graves you can admire ancient paintings of the Etruscan art that represent the widest evidence of all the ancient painting before the Roman Imperial Age.
Of interest is also the historical centre that dates back to the IX - VIII century B.C. where we find, among other things, an ancient temple from the IV-III century B.C. called "Ara della Regina".

Tuscania is about 26 km away from Montalto di Castro.
Also this municipality of the hinterland of Viterbo witnesses the presence in the past of the Etruscans. In fact, innumerable historical finds have been discovered of at least 12 well distinct rocky necropolises.
Tuscania is also important for its monuments dating back to the Romanesque and Medieval period.

Saturnia

Saturnia è is a renowned thermal centre that is about 50 km away from Montalto di Castro.
The sulphuric and therapeutic waters gush out at temperatures of 37.5 °C and come down from falls and little cascades (Cascate del Mulino, Cascate del Gorello) rendering the place magical and unique in the world.

Isola del Giglio

L'Isola del Giglio is a picturesque island on the Tuscany archipelago.
Connections with the mainland are guaranteed by ferries with boarding at Porto Santo Stefano (Isola d'Elba)
It belongs to the National Park of Tuscany Archipelago due to its unspoilt nature, with its rich Mediterranean vegetation of marine pines, shrubs, holly oaks and strawberry trees.
The beaches are very beautiful and are lapped by a fabulous sea.
Some of them can be reached comfortably by car, others only by boat or along foot paths.

What to seethe little picturesque tourist harbours of Giglio Porto and Giglio Campese and the ancient Medieval village (Giglio Castello) surrounded by ancient walls that offers a spectacular panorama.

Bolsena

Lake of Bolsena: this lake with the cleanest and purest waters is one of the few greatest Italian lakes where bathing is completely permitted.
In its waters many species of animals and plants live, among which seaweeds and underwater plants which have almost completely disappeared in other river basins.

Bolsena is about 55 km away from Montalto di Castro.
The city of Bolsena is situated on the river of the homonymous and crystalline lake.
In the inhabited centre we advise you to visit the ancient Romanesque collegiata of Santa Cristina dating back to the XI century, and the chapel of the Miracoloc built in 1639 after the miraculous bleed of a host.
